You attempt to live through a sustained life-or-death situation. You might be stranded in the wilderness or city streets, jailed in a deadly prison, or trapped on a disabled ship floating toward The Burn. If you make it through this, you’ll be stronger for it. This Story Path is for a person who wants to roleplay a character fighting to stay alive. While the 1st event must be the first completed and 5th must be the last, the other three events can be completed in any order. Check with your GM before taking this Story Path, since it relies on spending time in a harsh environment.

1st Event: We Have a Problem

Completion: You complete this event after you find yourself in a dire situation that requires you to do a lot more work than usual to stay alive. You might crash into a harsh environment, get stranded on a dying spacecraft, or volunteer to enter a deadly place to complete a mission. Once you’re in this situation, there’s no easy way out. You’ll need to keep your wits about you if you want to stay alive.

Reward: Select one special ability from your Species.

2nd, 3rd, or 4th Event: Find Shelter

Completion: You won’t last long in a harsh environment without shelter. You complete this event after you find, build, or repair a shelter that any allies and you can stay in comfortably.

Reward: Increase the die size of your Engineering, Knowledge, Perception, or Power skill by 1.

2nd, 3rd, or 4th Event: Fed and Watered

Completion: You complete this event when you obtain reliable sources of food and water for any allies and you. You might hunt a large animal, gather edible vegetation, or mine the resources of a nearby asteroid.

Reward: Increase the die size of one of your Physical Skills by 1.

2nd, 3rd, or 4th Event: Bad to Worse

Completion: You complete this event after you Survive a crisis related to your current situation. This could be a pack of hungry monsters, a natural disaster, or some similar hazard.

Reward: Increase the die size of one of your Physical Skills by 1.

5th Event: Get Out

Completion: Did you get a message to someone who rescued you? Did you build something to help you escape? Did you fight your way out? You complete this event after you finally get out of the dire situation.

Reward if no one else helped you: Gain the Tough as Nails Nova ability. You can spend 1 Nova point to become immune to all damage until the end of the next round. If you complete this Story Path a second or greater time and no one else helps you again, select one Nova ability from your Species.

Reward if you had some help along the way: Select one Nova ability from your Species.
