Rod, Very Rare (Requires Attunement)

One end of this heavy, black iron Rod glows as if hot. Rather than burning red and orange, it shines a sickly shade of purple.

While holding this Rod, you gain a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls and to the saving throw DCs of your spells.

Whenever you touch a creature with this Rod, that creature must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or be branded with the mark of Tol Kharash, the overlord known as the Horned King. Whenever a branded creature makes an attack roll or a saving throw against being Frightened, the creature must roll a d4 and subtract the number rolled from the attack roll or saving throw. The brand lasts until the next dawn or it is removed with Remove Curse or Greater Restoration.
