Smuggling

You bring goods or creatures into an area where they are not allowed. If you’re bringing goods, they might be contraband you plan to sell or restricted items you plan to give to people in need (such as weapons to help fuel a just rebellion or medicine to help those who are sick). If you’re transporting people, you’re likely helping a group of sapients, like refugees, get somewhere safe, but first you have to cross through a place where those people are not wanted. This can be through a city, across a planet, or across the galaxy. This Story Path is for people who want to get one over on the authorities.

1st Event: Get Word

Completion: You complete this event when you find something or someone that needs to be smuggled and agree to take the job. At the end of this event you should know where you are to pick up your goods or people and where you are to take them.

Reward: Select one special ability from your species.

2nd Event: Plan a Route

Completion: You complete this event when you plan a route and gather the supplies you need for your operation. You should have a good idea of what obstacles you might face along the way before you get to smuggling and what materials you need to hide or disguise the goods or people you transport.

Reward: Increase the die size of one of your Mental skills by 1.

3rd Event: Pickup

Completion: You complete this event after you acquire the goods or people you are smuggling. These items or people could need to be liberated or snuck out of the area of origin before they can come with you.

Reward: Increase the die size of your Computers, Deception, Perception, Skullduggery, Stealth, or Suavity skill by 1.

4th Event: Travel

Completion: You complete this event after you travel to the destination where you plan to take your smuggled goods or people. Along the way you could face checkpoints, rival smugglers, and all the usual hazards Olaxis has to offer.

Reward: Increase the die size of one of your Physical skills by 1.

5th Event: Drop Off

Completion: Did you make it to the intended destination, or did you need to leave what you promised behind, making you some new enemies? You complete this event after you attempt to drop off your goods or people somewhere.

Reward if you smuggled your goods or people to the right place: Select one Nova ability from your species.

Reward if you did not smuggle your goods or people to the right place: Gain the Cut ‘Em Loose Nova ability. You can spend 1 Nova point during a combat encounter to lead up to eight willing allies to safety, immediately ending the encounter. Each character must lose one piece of equipment (chosen by the GM) in the process of fleeing, and you only get as far as the closest location that is safer than the one you’re currently in, as determined by the GM. If you complete this Story Path a second or greater time and do not smuggle your goods or people to the right place again, select one Nova ability from your species.
